Lighted Magnifying Glass

As we age, many of us experience a loss of eyesight; a loss that has a huge impact on the lives of everyone who experiences it. Senior in particular feel this loss as they are less and less able to see in dim lighting and at distances and will usually find themselves benefiting from a lighted magnifying glass.

Slowly, they need progressively more light and larger print in order to be able to read. This can be an extremely difficult time, as they have to rely more on other people to read to them instead of being able to do it themselves. The loss of independence that this causes is often the most difficult part of aging. That is why it is very important that anyone who has these difficulties with reading should have a lighted magnifying glass.

Reading and writing can especially difficult for those who suffer from a condition called Macular Degeneration. Usually this condition comes late in life and in most cases, it is irreversible. Macular degeneration generally causes a loss of central vision. This basically means that if a person has it, they have a hole in their vision and are only able to see around that whole.

Depth perception is deeply affected as the person is left with only a ring of sight inside of their entire peripheral and central visual fields. Many people use a lighted magnifying glass to help them to see standard size prints much more easily. This way, the person using it will not need to depend on someone else to read to them.

Suffering from age-related ailments is always difficult, but there are some products that can help with the transition into life’s twilight. A lighted magnifying glass is a great example of one of these products. For reading the best type to buy are full page magnifiers. These large magnifying glasses come in various sizes and can be places on top of whatever you are reading, whether it is a book, newspaper, or just a simple note, and you won’t need to move the magnifier until you turn the page. These can be much less cumbersome than having to hold a small magnifying glass and moving it as you read.
